His number needs to be retired.

Let’s be the generation that has the fun of being remembered for having the wisdom of honoring the talent, abilities and love that God placed within Babe Ruth by retiring his number “3”. Sure he had his faults – “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”, John 8:7—53 yr old baseball fan of only 3 years this season – “Go St. Pete FL’s Tampa Bay Rays!”

anyone, fan writer or commisioner or otherwise should be ashamed of themselves if they don’t belive the babe’s #3 shouldn’t be retired!!!!

The number should have been retired a long, long time ago. No disrespect to Hank, or the to the others who may have surpassed one of his records, thats not the issue; I once heard a statement directed towards Ruth, and his impact on the game, that went something like this; “There will be players that will break his home run records, his RBI records, etc, But there will never be another player in baseball that will hold as many records at once as did Babe Ruth, NEVER, and people talk about records that will never be broken, Joe D’s 56 games, or Rose’s hits number, well there is one record that has not, and will not, ever be broken, Babe’s slugging percentage, no one has even come close, and think of the players that have played the game, and NO ONE has even come close. The man was simply amazing.
