Houston Astros top prospect Carlos Correa is raking in Double A, absolutely destroying opposing pitching and punching his ticket to the big club sooner than later. The young slugger is batting .382 with a mind boggling 1.163 OPS, 39 hits, 6 home runs and 13 stolen bases in his first 25 games with the Corpus Christi Hooks. He also has 13 doubles, a triple and 28 runs batted in while only making one error in 117 chances on defence.

Brace yourselves Astros fans, Correa is coming!

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweeted out yesterday that he is hearing Correa could be up in a couple weeks.

The upstart Houston conglomerate sit atop the AL West with an impressive 18-10 record over their first 28 contests. Their .643 win percentage is tied with the New York Mets and only second to the leagues best St.Louis Cardinals who boast a .741 percentage.

Since the Jed Lowrie injury, Manager A.J. Hinch has leaned on Marwin Gonzalez to play shortstop and although he is batting a respectable .271, he does not offer up much in the way of speed or power on the offensive side. With Lowrie slated to be sidelined until after the All-Star break, Correa could come up and make an impact immediately.

Correa missed a large portion of his 2014 campaign after suffering a broken fibula, in 62 games last year in High “A” ball he batted .325 with a .926 OPS with 6 homers and 20 stolen bases for the Lancaster JetHawks.

The uber prospect is ranked by 4th on the Baseball America Top 100 Prospect list only behind Kris Bryant, Byron Buxton and Addison Russell. Correa is the on odds on favorite to heralded the country’s top prospect by season’s end. Houston also has Mark Appel ranked 31st on the list.

If Correa continues his torrid pace, prepare to see him at Minute Maid Park before month’s end.
