White Sox

White Sox are on a roll!  A 10 game losing streak is a roll right?

This week they were a cool 0-7 to run their losing streak to ten.   After finishing last week with being swpet at the hands of the Kansas City Royals, they started this week with a loss to the Cleveland Indians.  Then 3 more followed, yep a 4 game Cleveland sweep.  But hey they get to travel to Detroit, nothing like the defending AL champs to get the juices flowing.  3 runs in 3 games = a Detroit sweep.

So here we are, traded away a couple chips in Jesse Crain, Matt Thornton and Jake Peavy.  For now Alex Rios is still here, maybe a waiver deal will be in his future.

However all is not lost, getting a glimpse of the future is fun, for me anyways.  Some people only watch when the team is good but I like to see what the future might hold.

Looking into that crystal ball on offense is SCARY!  Just talking about last week alone, guess who led the Sox in average?   That’s right, Adam Dunn!  He led the team in Hits, Avg, Home Runs and RBI this week.  Lovely, just what we needed that guy to start hitting in August when we are 23 games out.

The bright spot has been the pitching.  It’s fun watching a new kid have success, and the rookie from Brazil Andre Rienzo has had 2 real nice starts.  The offense did him no favors so he has nothing to show for it, however 2 starts on the road in Cleveland and Detroit he has pitched a total of 13 innings with 2 Earned Runs and 9 punchouts.  Not bad for your first 2 starts on the road against the 1st and 2nd place teams in your division.

I am looking forward to seeing a couple new faces on offense because the existing ones are flat out not getting it done.  The team is going nowhere this season lets let some of the kids play at the dish and see what we have for 2014.
