Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera almost lost a battle with a screaming foul ball off the bat of teammate Matt Tuiasosopo. Cabrera laughed it off playfully but there is no doubt Manager Jim Leyland would have had some choice words for “Big Matt” had he injured the franchise player.

  • This goes back to the mid-sixties but I remember Cash ripping a foul that hit Bill Freehan in the On-Deck circle at Yankee Stadium. The ball hit Freehan in the shoulder and ricochetted into the stands. Freehan brushed his shoulder as if he was flicking off a mosquito and gave Stormin’ Norman a half-smile as if to say, “Is that all you’ve got?”. I was about 20 feet away in the first-row box seats and heard that ball hit him. He never jerked back. He stayed in the game and had a few big hits to boot. Tough guy.
