Devon Travis

Last night the Buffalo Bisons hosted the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of the 3 game series. Along with the success that the Bison’s were already having, Devon Travis was joining the team on a rehab stint after recovering from surgery he had on his left shoulder.

The shoulder surgery that Travis had completed was to take care of a condition which where 1 of 4 bones that extended over the shoulder joint did not fuse and thus created an extra bone. The surgery was to insert screws into the shoulder to secure the bone. This surgery took place in the middle of November of 2015 and is on his way back to joining the major league club.

Travis spent 4 games with the Dunedin Blue Jays with single-A before moving up to AAA. In his 4 games in single-A, Travis went 5-14 with 2 doubles. Last night, was his first game with AAA-Buffalo and was simply dominate. Travis went 3-4 with a double and two singles, 2 RBI’s and a run scored. This was matched by his defensive play at second base that we have come to expect from him. Travis played 7 innings before turning second base over to Alexi Casilla, which was probably pre-determined by the organization of the length of his game.

With the talent that we saw last night in Devon Travis, it would not surprise me if he was back up with the Toronto Blue Jays by the end of the weekend or early next week. The Blue Jays are in Minnesota for this weekend with an off day Monday before travelling to New York for a 3 game series. My thought is that Travis will play the remainder of the weekend in Buffalo and will be added to the roster for the Yankee’s series starting on Tuesday.

Travis coming back couldn’t be at a better time, the Blue Jays need some sort of a boost from anyone!
