Fan Fuel: Blue Jays Aaron Sanchez Interview
BY CLAYTON RICHER – FAN FUEL BLOGGER
While most 17-year-olds are searching for fake id on a Friday night or building up the courage to ask their secret crush to prom, imagine being drafted in the first round of the major league amateur baseball draft and then signing a $775,000 contract shortly thereafter to pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays. If that doesn’t impress your friends enough how about making your professional debut and pitching 25 innings striking out 37 batters before seasons end. This is just another regular day at the ballpark for pitching phenom and future Blue Jays ace Aaron Sanchez.
Sanchez was born in Barstow, California and attended Barstow High School honing his craft with the Aztecs. Sanchez is the third player drafted from the school. The two previous being Brian Jones with the Expos in 1990 and Matt Mitchell with the Royals in 1997, neither player ever made it to the major leagues.
