The Brew Crew and the Metropolitans will conclude their 4-game series in Flushing, New York on Thursday when Chase Anderson and Zack Wheeler square off on the bump for their respective squads.

The Brewers are the Cinderella team thus far this season leading the National League Central by a slim margin, a feat that not many would have prognosticated 2-months earlier. The homer-happy Brewers have been led by the slugging phenom that is Eric Thames, fresh off his tour of Japan.

Starting Pitchers:

Chase Anderson took a no-hitter into the 8th inning of his last outing versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Anderson will look to improve upon his 1-strikeout performance when he toes the rubber opposite the Mets.

The Mets will put their hopes on Zack Wheeler to match Anderson pitch for pitch on Thursday. Wheeler has been impressive this season boasting a respectable 3.83 earned run average after missing the last two seasons with an injury.

Game Within The Game

The Mets have been snake-bitten by injuries and are still missing a number of key contributors for this match-up.

The Mets will have to attempt to contain the home run hitting prowess of Eric Thames who has launched 13 homers on the season.

The Brewers will have to contain the Mets home run tandem of Michael Conforto and Jay Bruce who have 13 and 12 round trippers of their own respectively thus far.

“The Mets beat the Brewers, 4-2, in a Memorial Day matchup and will now look to extend their streak to 3 Games. Despite the fact that right-hander Tyler Pill is set to make his first Major League start Tuesday night, the Mets are favorite by -1.5 runs in the sportsbook odds released this morning” says line manager Dave Strauss.

Players To Watch

Jay Bruce has 12 homers on the season but in his career is hitting .091 in 11 career at-bats versus Anderson.

The Brewers have a small sample size versus Wheeler due to him being on the disabled list the past two seasons.

Notable Injuries

Brewers: Ryan Braun, Manny Pina

Mets: Yoenis Cespedes, Jeurys Familia, Steven Matz, Noah Syndergaard and David Wright
