The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers will wrap up their four-game series at Dodger Stadium on Thursday as Steven Matz will take the bump opposite Alex Wood who will get the nod for the home squad.

The Dodgers are chasing the Colorado Rockies who lead the NL West by a slim margin while the Mets are searching for answers as they fall out of the playoff picture in the NL East.

Starting Pitchers

Alex Wood has resembled his teammate Clayton Kershaw for much of the 2017 campaign posting Cy Young like numbers thus far. Wood is 7-0 with a minuscule 1.90 earned run average and 72 strikeouts in 10 starts this season.

Steven Matz has battled injury woes all season long managing just 2 starts thus far. Matz is 1-1 with a 3.21 earned run average in limited opportunities.

Game Within The Game

The Dodgers have been living off the bat of rookie Cody Bellinger who has smashed a league-leading 21 home runs in his first 51 games at the major league level. Can you say real deal, the future is very bright for Mr. Bellinger.

“The Dodgers swept the Reds 3-0 and are 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 9-1 in their last 10 games overall, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise to know that the baseball odds for Dodgers vs Mets have L.A as a heavy -400 home favorite to win the 4-game series” explains MyBookie.ag Line Manager, David Strauss.

Players To Watch

Wilmer Flores has enjoyed some success versus Wood batting .308 in 13 trips with 1 round-tripper in his career versus the Dodgers hurler.

No Dodger player has more than 6 at bats versus Matz but look for Bellinger to be the first Dodger to take the Mets pitcher deep.

Notable Injuries

Mets: Noah Syndergaard, Matt Harvey, Juan Lagares, Neil Walker, Jeurys Familia and David Wright

Dodgers: Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Andrew Toles and Andre Ethier
