The Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers will continue their series on Wednesday as the Red Sox trot out their ace Chris Sale opposite Martin Perez in game two of their three-game set that takes place at 7:10 p.m eastern time at Fenway Park.

This is the first series between the two teams thus far in the 2017 campaign.

Starting Pitchers:

The arm to keep an eye on in this affair is undoubtedly Chris Sale who boasts a 4-2 record with a 2.19 earned run average in 9 starts so far this season. Sale has 10 or more strikeouts in his last 8 consecutive starts including 3 starts with at least 12 whiffs.

The Rangers are hopeful Martin Perez can silence the Red Sox bats while they find an answer for Sale. In 9 starts Perez has accumulated a 3.71 earned run average while fanning 36 in 51 innings of work.

Game Within The Game

Both teams are chasing the top seed in their respective divisions and are within striking distance. The Red Sox sit in the middle of the pack looking to leapfrog the Baltimore Orioles so they can get a clear site on the division-leading New York Yankees. The Red Sox have hovered at the .500 mark all season long.

The Rangers sit in second place in the AL West-chasing the upstart Houston Astros for first place in the division. The Texas contingent has rattled off a handful of wins the past week and finally look like they are hitting their stride.

“Boston and Texas meet for the first time this season and they’re in a decent spot in their divisions. The Red Sox are the favorite in the MLB odds at -195, but the Rangers seem a bit more focused and in better shape than their conference rivals. Keep your eyes out for this series.” says line director David Strauss of MyBookie online sportsbook.
