Mike Napoli

Last offseason, the Texas Rangers lost several key players, including Mike NapoliNapoli was the starting catcher for the Rangers for 2 seasons. He now is the first baseman for the Boston Red Sox in the American League East.  Napoli is off to a hot start,  batting .270 with 6 long balls and 31 RBIs. Napoli said that he loved playing with the Rangers and he made some good friends.

This past weekend the top two teams in the American League, The Red Sox and Rangers played a three game series at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. After the Rangers swept the Red Sox in three games, they are tied with the Red Sox and the Cardinals for the best record in the majors at 20-11. Napoli did not get booed by the fans like Josh Hamilton did. During his first trip Arlington since being in a Red Sox uniform, Napoli only got one hit and he struck out  four times. He did not hit a home run or collect an RBI. His batting average went from .283 to .270 and his trip to Arlington was miserable.

The Rangers swept the Red Sox in three games. They are tied with them for the best record in the majors at 20-11. I cannot wait to see these two teams play again. They play each other again during a 3 game series June 4-6 , at Fenway Park in Boston. Napoli is phenomenal at Fenway Park and I wonder if he or the Red Sox will invoke some revenge against the Rangers.

I love Napoli and I wish nothing but the best for him. He seems more relaxed to me and healthy. I think moving to first base full-time was the wise choice for him. I hope the Red Sox win the AL East Division. It will also be interesting if these two clubs can meet again in the postseason.

Napoli only signed with the Red Sox for 1yr/5MIL because of a failed physical. I believe that the Red Sox will re-sign him again because of what he brings to the team and their clubhouse is finally the playoff team they once were.
