With the recent struggles the Toronto Blue Jays have been going through, their AAA affiliate Buffalo Bisons have been firing on all cylinders lately. This week the Bison’s hosted the Toledo Mud Hens, now you may be thinking, why is that name familiar?

The Mud Hens are the Detroit Tigers AAA affiliate. This includes some ex-Blue Jays like, Anthony Gose, Daniel Norris and Matt Boyd. On Monday, Norris took to the mound where he suffered his 4th loss of the season (0-4), and increased his ERA to a staggering 8.06. Scott Diamond picked up the win moving him to 3-3 with a 2.39 ERA. Jesus Montero jumped on Norris quickly in the bottom of the first hitting a 2 run shot to left. Dalton Pompey got in on the action getting an RBI single in the 7th.

Most recently, the Bison’s got a big win last night at home. The Mud Hens got out to a quick lead in the top of the first 2-0. However, the Bison’s quickly erased that with putting up 3 in the bottom half of the first. Junior Lake went 3-3 with 2 RBI and a walk. The red-hot A.J. Jimenez went 4-4 with 4 RBI’s and all of them came with 2-outs.

The recent (small sample size) success of the Bison’s is a sight for sore eyes after the Blue Jays have dropped their last 5 games now 19-23 and sitting 4th in the AL East. The Bison’s have won 8 of their last 12, and 2 of 3 against the Mud Hens.

The Bison’s open a 4 game series against the Rival Pawtucket Red Sox tonight, where they hope to improve on their 2-4 record this year against them. The Bison’s will get some help in Devon Travis who is joining the club on his rehab stint after having surgery on his left shoulder. Since joining Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays on May 13th he has hit safely in all four games he’s played, with a .357 average, two doubles, five RBI and a walk.

This weekend at Coca-Cola Field, it is Blue Jays weekend. They will be giving away a Marcus Stroman bobblehead on Saturday which should have a good crowd for the 1 PM start.
